Transport in opening sequence: four out of the five characters arrive in very different cars: old rusted family car, sports car, jeep. One character walks on into the scene.

order of titles

Film titles are normally put in the order of importance to the movie
Distribution - This will always the first title because they are the people that put forward the most money for the film therefore will want to be the first and remembered.
Production - Second would be production as they are the people who actually produced the film
Film Title - The third is the film title followed by the film stars in importance or if they are using well known actors would bring in a larger audience so using them first.
Staring
Casting Director- The person who hires all the actors.
Costume Design - Not as important as the rest but must have recognition.

Analysing the opening of film sequences

During an early January media lesson we learnt the order a film sequence, however it is not always the case of them going in the exact order. The position of where people included in the production of the film go varies depending on content of the film itself.

Speaking from personal experiences, when I went to go see 'DreamGirls' the cast members names where put during the end rather than the beginning - like the film 'Juno' had done. That is also another difference between films, some of them put the credits at the opening of the film while other put them in the end. One thing all films do in the opening however is put the distributor/ production company of the film, this is done for the obvious reasons that they have financed it. The film 'DreamGirls' feature big names from the music/ acting industry like BeyoncĂ©, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Hudson and that is emphasised when they are put above everyone else in the credits of the film. Them being so big in the music/ acting industry can justify the position of their names being so high in the credits. However in the film 'Spring Breakers' the producers were put before the actors, this may have been done emphasise their efforts put in the film or advertise the producers if not as successful as others in the film industry.

Filming The Breakfast Club

Previous blogpost show some images taken over the two day duration of our group filming the remake of The Breakfast Club. Overall we managed to get the majority of the shots needed to replicate the film, however as a group we faced several challenges to make sure the shots we got were accurate. The biggest challenge for us was making the car look as lifelike as possible and giving off the illusion of someone coming out of the car. It was important for us to make the toy cars look real as possible because the form of transport they arrived in said something about their social background, and as a group we thought it was essential to capture that. Doing this ensured that we understood the assignment. Although coming under stress to make sure everything would be filmed in time, filming our remake of The Breakfast club was fun, as I was able to develop my skills with the camera and I got to work out how to give the illusion of something being there that is really not.

Analysis of a teen film-Holiday Homework

A teen film that I watched over the holidays was John Tucker Must Die (2006). This film follows three teenage girls (Ashanti, Sophia Bush, Arielle Kebbel) who plot revenge on the basketball team captain John (Jesse Metcalfe) who has been dating all of them at the same time. They enlist the help of the new girl in school (Brittany Snow) to help get their revenge.

The genre's of this teen film are comedy and romance. There are a number of typical teen film locations are used in this film such as the: high school gym, classrooms, bedrooms, kitchens and school halls.
There are a number of different stereotypes in this film such a: The jock and the nasty cheerleader however some of the characters are not represented in the typical stereotypes.

THE JOCK

The character of John Tucker is played by Jesse Metcalfe. His character is represented as the jock and the player. His character is often seen wearing sports clothing including a basketball uniform and headband while doing scenes in the gym. He is also represented as a player by the way that he is always seen around women.

THE NASTY CHEERLEADER
The Character of Heather is player by Ashanti. Her character is represented as the nasty cheerleader. This is seen by the way she responds and speaks to other characters. She is often seen wearing a cheerleading costume or crop top and is seen is all the scenes set around the school gym.
