Mean girls would appeal to girls as they can relate to movie as what happens in the movie is something that could happen to them in real life or be in a similar situation. Actresses in the film are very well known and have star appeal; Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried. All three are in very girly romantic films for example, Rachel McAdams is in The vow and The notebook very famous romantic films which have a female audience.
Different storylines would appeal to different audiences for example for females love stories or Romcoms would be of interest
The setting of mean girls would appeal to female audience as they can relate.

This film would appeal to teenage male as it has a lot of 'guy humour' the storylines is all about sex and comedy which teenage males would enjoy watching. Also the setting of american pie is the first year of college.
