Genre and Convention

-What is a teen film?
A tee film is a genre that is mostly targeted around teenagers as it focuses itself around themes and topics most teenagers are prone to going through a they take the journey to adulthood.

-Who watches teen films?
Teen films are mostly watched by their main target audience - teenagers! This is because there is a link in relation to what the character in the film experiences which makes the film more relatable for them. However teen film's secondary audiences range from all ages as the research gathered from our interview demonstrates it is down to personal preferences when it comes to watching a film.

-What sub genres are common?
Common sub genres in teen films include romantic comedies, drama, thriller, mystery and comedy.

Conventional themes, locations and character found in teen films
- In teen films themes may vary, however there are common themes that occur in a majority of teen films. For example drama. The theme of drama is present in films such as Mean Girls, Bring it on: All or nothing and A Cinderella Story, just to name a few of them! This may be because as a teenager several thing are on their minds school work, social life, home life and school being a common location for teens to be, they all clash under this one building. This then takes me to the point of the common characters found in these types of films. The dumb blonde, the loner and the smarty pants are examples of common characters.
