Representation part 2

2.
10 things I hate about you- The outcast
In the teen film 10 things I Hate About You (1999) the character Patrick Verona is played by Heath Ledger now his character is represented in a number of different ways in this film mainly as the outcast but also sometimes as the criminal.  This stereotype is identifies through the use of the different technical elements.
Now as this character is supposed be very dangerous is sometimes seen in the frame holding sharp objects in order to strike fear in the other characters. His costume tends to contain dark colours which are often seen on people who prefer to be by their own and also who seem dangerous. Also the performance by all of the characters helps to show his stereotype in the film. The other characters in the film tend to avoid this character as much as possible showing that he is alienated from other students.
The Breakfast club – The princess
In the teen film The Breakfast club (1985) the character Claire Standish is represented as the rich spoilt princess.  This stereotype can be shown throughout the use of the technical elements: Mise-en-Scene, sound, camera.
This representation of this character is seen the first moment we see her through her dialogue in which she is constantly complaining to her father by the way that her father reacts shows that the girl is treated like a princess as he hands her a shopping bag and tells her he will buy her a present later. Also the use of the sports car shows this as it a very expensive car showing that her family has money. The costume used is very bright and girly with the use of a lot of pink clothing which is often seen being worn by the princess in the story.
