1. What is representation? 

Representation is a generalisation of a specific person or certain groups of people and is when these people are put into different categories.

In teen drama films stereotypes are more clear as the different personalities and appearance of the characters are highlighted and sometimes enhanced. This overall helps us to understand the character better as not every aspect or feature of that character will be in a feature film, this will then end with a stereotype that, that character is portraying.

In the teen film She's all That Zack Siler played by Freddie Prinze Jr is stereotyped as the popular Jock. This stereotype is identified through the use of the different technical elements but mainly through the use of Mise-en-Scene involving costume, setting, performance.

Costume plays a key part in creating this stereotype as the costume in the opening of the film costume helps us to understand what categories this character fits into. 

For this type of stereotype to be shown the costume used is mainly jeans and a lettermen jacket which are worn by athletes. This helps show that he is a typical high school jock.

This character is also often seen in a number of different settings which help emphasis his stereotype for instance: football fields, gyms and locker rooms. 

The characters performance sometimes contributes to his stereotype  this is done by the way the character is very confident.
